There are a growing number of paintball players in the America alone; the number has increased to more than 10 million according to a recent survey taken by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association in 2005. The National Xball League was developed in 2003 and many people became interested. The interest spread to other countries when the NXL celebrity games were televised.
Doctors began noticing the game too and started studying its effects on a person’s health. Dr. Brian Jacobs, a sports medicine expert from South Bend, Indiana commented in an interview that paintball is a source of cardiovascular exercise and is really good for the heart. He tried to play the game twice and observe how injuries were acquired and the trauma it could cause to a paintball player. Codes were developed to categorize the injuries caused by the paintball game such as: E922.5 which is an accidental injury caused by a paintball gun; E985.7, a paintball gun injury which was inflicted on purpose or by accident; and E955.7, is a self-inflicted paintball gun injury.
Paintball Sizes
Did you know that paintballs also vary in size? Well, some novice players are not aware of this and so they tend to use any size of paintball on their paintball guns. By doing so, they will reduce the efficiency and accuracy of their gun or marker.
You must ensure that you’re using the right paintball size for the barrel. For example, a .68 caliber should use the appropriate paintball size. Paintballs vary in size and it depends on the brand and some other factors like temperature. Variations in size are slight but still, it could make a big difference. Some paintballs are .689 or .681 or may be in between. The efficiency and accuracy is definitely affected even with slight size differences.

Many players compete with one another in the paintball game. The players are divided into two teams and the primary goal of each team is to capture their opponent’s flag. You can even play the sport in your own yard as long as you have the necessary equipments and protective gear. In the outdoor fields, paintball can accommodate as many as 500 players. The two teams are distinguished by the color of their armbands. Playing the game can take a few minutes or even a whole day if there are so many players.
