Players can only see a small part of the park playing area due to trees and brush. Stealth, camouflage, and snipers are effective strategies when playing in a woodsball park. Woodsball should always be played in a park environment, where there is no chance of accidentally firing on non-combatants.

Civil War, World War, and even fictional battles can be simulated. Sometimes a paintball park is suitable for this game. A playing field larger than a park might be needed for historical accuracy.

The small field makes for speedy and exciting play. Teams often participate in speedball or other variations in tournament park fields.
